7.7-magnitude quake hits Queen Charlotte Islands, Canada region: USGS

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) — An earthquake of 7.7 magnitude jolted Queen Charlotte Islands, Canada region at 03:04:10 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said. The epicenter, with a depth of 17.5 km, was initially determined to be at 52.769 degrees north latitude and 131.927 degrees west longitude. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat of a tsunami at the moment. However, Earthquake Canada said the tsunami warning was in effect for coastal areas for the northern tip of Vancouver Island and elsewhere in British Columbia, as well as Alaska.
